Recently, in Yancheng green low carbon science and Technology Innovation Park, in the production workshop of KELONG innovative material technology (Yancheng) Co., Ltd., the titanium fiber gas diffusion layer was cut precisely and tested and then successively offline. As the first "allocation and investment combination" key incubator in our city jointly promoted by Jiangsu Provincial Industrial Technology Research Institute and Jiangsu coastal renewable energy innovation center, from the trial production in April this year to the official operation now, this enterprise focusing on hydrogen energy core materials has made substantial progress in the industrialization of high-end titanium based diffusion layer.

In the production workshop of Guoke Huachuang, titanium fiber gas diffusion layer with a thickness of 0.18 mm to 2 mm is being sent out from the production line. The light and thin "sheet" is densely packed with thousands of micro structures. "It is a key part of the water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment. It not only supports the membrane electrode, but also distributes water, electricity, gas and heat, so that the electrolysis reaction can be carried out stably." Zhang Ke, the general manager of the company, explained that these micro titanium fiber interweaved structures have no small impact on the hydrogen production efficiency and cost.

Previously, domestic high-end titanium fiber gas diffusion layer mostly relies on imports, and the product performance of independent research and development is difficult to meet the industrial demand. Based on the technical accumulation of Professor Liu Jianguo's team of North China Electric Power University in hydrogen energy core materials, KELONG innovation continued to test and tackle key problems, and successfully transformed the research and development achievements into landing industrial solutions. "Just for the preparation of ultra-fine titanium fiber, hundreds of process parameters have been tested." Zhang Ke said that the team finally made a breakthrough in the technology of ultra-fine titanium fiber drawing and 3D gradient structure design, and the product performance reached the international advanced level, filling in the blank of domestic related industrialization.

Talking about why the park was chosen, Zhang Ke said frankly that the industrialization of hydrogen energy core materials needs a perfect industrial chain. The park has built a hydrogen energy science and technology innovation center and a renewable energy pilot test base, settled in many scientific and technological enterprises in the field of hydrogen energy, and has formed an industrial chain of "hydrogen production hydrogen storage hydrogen consumption", which is an attraction for enterprises.

When the project was implemented, the service of the park let the enterprise take a lot of detours: coordinate and help the enterprise to complete the equipment lifting and installation, assist in the visual design and construction of the workshop, and provide a solid guarantee for the enterprise to quickly achieve the production conditions. Now, the production line of KELONG has been stably mass produced, and the annual output capacity can meet the needs of high-end markets at home and abroad. The product performance is equivalent to that of imported products, but the cost has been reduced by about 30%, and the transformation from relying on imports to independent production is gradually realized.

After the official operation, KELONG Chuang does not only want to make a single product. In the R & D center, the test of the new generation gradient gas diffusion layer is underway. "In the future, hydrogen production equipment will have higher requirements for material performance." Zhang Ke said that the team has applied for more than 10 patents, and is working with the industry association to develop group standards, hoping to bring core parts into the international industrial chain.

At the same time, KELONG Chuang is also actively integrating into the hydrogen energy industry ecology of Yancheng, exploring the industrial chain cooperation mode of "material equipment application" through technical coordination and resource docking. "Yancheng has good scenery resources, which can provide a solid foundation for the hydrogen energy industry." Zhang Ke believes that with the deepening of the industrial chain, it is expected to form a complete hydrogen energy ecosystem from core materials to terminal applications.
